Brownsville police detectives continue to look for clues to explain the suicide of a 70-year-old Brownsville man Friday.
Police believe the man, whose name has been witheld, of the 2900 block of Calle Sevillanas, shot his dog and then turned the .22-calibur gun on himself.
Police investigators were called to the intersection of FM 802 and Seville Boulevard around noon after residents reported seeing a man and a dog lying in a field in front of the Margaret M. Clark Aquatic Center.
Tuggle was immediately transported via ambulance to Valley Regional Medical Center-Brownsville, where he died at 3:30 p.m. April 6.
Police spokesman Eddie Garcia said investigators found notes inside his home, about one block away from where he was found lying, and another note pinned to his chest, he said.
As of Friday afternoon, it was unclear what was written on the notes. Police would not elaborate.
Garcia said the preliminary investigation concluded that the man shot his greyhound, and then shot himself.
The dog was transported to the Brownsville Animal Shelter for treatment and later put to sleep. References« TX State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Cameron County, TX
