Two meth labs were discovered in surprising places in West Knoxville on April 5. One was located inside an apartment, and the other was in a car parked at a nearby shopping center.
At 1:00 p.m., officers with the Knox County Sheriff's Department stormed the Windover Apartment Complex on Cheshire Drive.
Apartment 185 was the focus of the search, and that's where an active meth lab was discovered. Boxes of the materials used to make the illegal drug were found inside.
A search of a maroon car parked behind the Gallery Shopping Center also yielded meth-making supplies. The car belonged to the girlfriend of one of two men taken into custody.
Twenty-five-year-old Donald Bruce and 22-year-old James Alan Jones were arrested and charged with manufacturing and possessing meth.
They were also charged with animal cruelty after officers found a pit-bull dog living in the apartment.
Martha Dooley, a spokesperson for the Knox County Sheriff's Offices says there was no threat to neighbors, "From what we understand...it only effected this apartment. The feds are on their way right now to clean up the apartment."
Amandalyn Shock's apartment is located on the same floor that the meth lab was found. Shock wasn't too surprised at the news about her neighbors, "They were very quiet, very illusive, they didn't want to talk. Just the fact that they had people visiting at odd hours with now vehicle transportation and they were always in a hurry." said Shock.
Investigators say the two arrested men learned how to make meth off the internet. Instructions found inside the house had internet website addresses on them. The girlfriend whose car was searched has not been charged. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
