On Saturday, March 24, Cedar Rapids police received a report of one dog being attacked and killed by up to three pitbull-type dogs in the 500 block of Cobban Ct SE.

Both police and Animal Control officers responded.

Police say Tim Comried, of 1043 Fifth Ave SE, advised that his dog got out of its fenced-in backyard, and was attacked near the front of his house by three dogs that returned to a house at 520 Cobban Ct. SE, which is across the street.

By the time officers arrived and were allowed access to that house at 520 Cobban Ct. SE, the three dogs matching witness descriptions could not be located.

The resident at 520 Cobban Ct SE, Jessica R. Mikarovsky, 21, did have several other dogs in her home.

She was issued two citations for failure to have a breeders permit, and one citation for unhealthy and unsanitary conditions due to the poor state of the home.

The Department of Human Services has been contacted to follow up with Mikarovsky due to a 1-year-old being present, although the child did not appear to be in immediate danger and was left with its mother, police said.

Saturdays incident remains under investigation, police said.
