Two Hattiesburg men were arrested July 23, 2006, for allegedly holding a dog fight at a home on New Orleans Street. Police were called to the home after narcotics activity at a dogfight was reported. Upon arrival, officers found signs of a dogfight, complete with an injured and bleeding dog. The dogs, housed for six months at the Southern Pines Animal Shelter, were euthanized in December, said shelter director Virginia Cheatham. The men, Troy Daron Denton and Robert Lee Hill, will go to trial before summer, said DeCarlo Cook of the Forrest and Perry County District Attorney's Office.
