A black Labrador was found just outside the Hidden River RV resort with a plastic bag over its head.

After removing the animal, residents called the authorities to investigate, and then wondered if there could be more dead animals nearby, because someone saw two suspicious men carrying something into a wooded area the day before.

"They backed up in here and over here and they got out again with a blanket or something sagging in the middle and they walked all back through there some place and when they came out the blanket was flopping like it was empty," said resident Clarence Bishop.

After searching the woods, Hillsborough deputies say they didnt find other animals.

But animal control will have their work cut out to find out who might have killed the dog.

The dog looked like it was well taken care of. It wasnt bones, it had a few sores, it was laying here like this tail this way head up here, resident John Holmes said.

The dog is now in the hands of animal control. They still have to determine how it died.

It is suspected that the black lab was somebody's pet because it was wearing a collar.
