A man is accused of stomping his father-in-law's pet Chihuahua to death on March 13.

According to a report from the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Frederick Wilkerson, 56, is accused of killing the dog after it bit him on his father-in-law's property.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Sue Livoti said officials have issued an arrest warrant for Wilkerson on a charge of animal cruelty.

Lester Peer, 71, of S.W. 155th St., told deputies that Wilkerson, his son-in-law, had walked over to his home sometime around 6 p.m. for a visit, and the dog walked up to him. According to the report, Peer told investigators that Wilkerson said the dog, Gizmo, bit him on the leg. Wilkerson, who the report lists at 200 pounds, allegedly kicked the the dog in the head.

The report adds that the dog started bleeding and Wilkerson started stomping Gizmo to "put the dog out of its misery." Wilkerson was not in custody as of Wednesday evening.
