A Stockton police sergeant has been charged with fatally shooting his neighbors dog with a pellet gun.
John Egan Junior is headed to a May 17 trial after a hearing on March 15 in the Lodi branch of San Joaquin County Superior Court.
Egan faces a single misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty for the June 26th death of Misha, a 4-year-old female golden retriever that belonged to a Tracy police detectives family in Acampo.
If convicted, Egan faces a maximum sentence of up to one year in the San Joaquin County Jail.
