A local man is in police custody after he was charged with 12 offences, including forcing a woman to commit bestiality.

Police conducted a search warrant on Fort McMurray Custom Tattooing after receiving information from a woman about an alleged sexual assault. As a result, a man was charged with the following offences on March 9:

• five counts of sexual assault;
• two counts of sexual assault with a weapon;
• one count of bodily harm (choking) to overcome resistance in the commission of an offence;
• one count of assault causing bodily harm;
• one count of engaging in threatening conduct;
• one count of making obscene matter (photos);
• one count of compelling bestiality

The victim and accused knew each other, but police offered few details except to say the alleged offences took place between Dec. 11, 2005, and March 5, 2007. The accused man faces a bail hearing March 12.
