Case Updates

Two teenagers accused of animal cruelty, which involved dragging a cat behind a truck, could face felony charges.

A police incident report said the teens drove a pickup truck to drag the cat through several Fruita roads, with a lasso around its neck. Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger said the type of charges the teens will face will be based on whether the cat was alive or dead during the incident.

Authorities caught the teenagers at a McDonald's restaurant in Fruita. Sheriff deputies reported that one of the teens confessed about the dragging.
