more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Three students at a private school are accused of chasing and killing a cat during a basketball tournament.
Dalton Andrepont, 18, and two juveniles, one 12 years old and the other 13, were given misdemeanor cruelty summonses on Feb 26, ordering them to appear in state district court in Clinton on April 10, Police Chief Billy DeMoss said.
He said all three attend Silliman Institute, which describes itself as a college prep school with classes from pre-kindergarten through high school.
The Humane Society of Louisiana, which offered a reward and made the allegations public Feb. 15, said it got several reports alleging that boys chased, cornered and killed a cat with rocks and a metal fence post on Feb. 10 during a basketball tournament.
Silliman is a member of the Mississippi Private School Association's sports league.
Case UpdatesA state district judge has sentenced a man to five days of community service and placed him on probation for a year in connection with the beating death of a cat earlier this year.
Dalton Andrepont, 18, of Clinton, pleaded guilty April 10 to a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals before District Judge William G. Carmichael.
A pre-sentence investigation indicated that Andrepont was not present when the cat was killed Feb. 10 during a basketball tournament at Silliman Institute. However, he did put his foot on the animals neck and jabbed it with a metal fence post, the investigation determined.
The word that comes to mind almost immediately is stupidity. I dont mean to say youre stupid, but you exercised exceedingly stupid behavior, Carmichael told Andrepont at a sentencing hearing Tuesday.
Carmichael then sentenced him to a 30-day parish jail term, but suspended it and placed him on supervised probation for a year. Conditions of his probation include serving five days of community service, refraining from the use of alcohol and maintaining employment or attending school.
Two other youths, ages 12 and 13, were issued misdemeanor summonses in the cats death. Their cases were handled in juvenile court.
The cats death gained a fair amount of attention when the Humane Society of Louisiana offered a reward leading to the arrests of the persons responsible. | Source: The Shreveport Times - June 14, 2007 Update posted on Jun 19, 2007 - 1:03PM |
