Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

The BC SPCA is urgently seeking the public's help to locate the owner of an emaciated pit-bull who was left to die in a residential Surrey neighbourhood. The one-year-old, tan and white dog was found in mid-February in the 17800 block of 57th Avenue in Surrey.

"This is one of the most disturbing cases of animal abuse I have ever witnessed," said Eileen Drever, Senior Animal Protection Officer for the BC SPCA. "The dog was completely emaciated, the skeletal outline clearly visible. The dog was found comatose beside a walkway between two houses in a Surrey cul de sac."

A good Samaritan found the dog and transported it to the Surrey SPCA, where staff members rushed the dying dog to a nearby veterinarian. Sadly, her condition was so critical she had to be euthanized to relieve her suffering.

"We are desperately seeking any information that would help us identify the owner of the dog so that we can investigate the case," said Drever. "Tragically it is too late to save this dog from the cruelty she suffered, but we can work to ensure that whoever inflicted this pain is held to account."

Anyone with any information about the dog is asked to please call Eileen Drever at 604.709.4670.
