St. Johns area man arrested for murder is also believed to have been involved in drug dealing and dog fighting, according to authorities.

Portland police arrested 28-year-old Leon James Scott after 49-year-old James Kenneth Miller was found shot to death near North Midway Avenue and North Columbia Boulevard earlier in February.

Detectives said they found evidence of drug trafficking and dog-fighting after serving a warrant at the suspect�s home. Investigators also seized six pit bulls.

A Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted Scott for murder, drug possession and delivery, and one count of dog fighting.

Leon James Scott appeared in court on June 2, 2008. He remains in custody on charges of murder, drug possession, and dog fighting.

Portland police arrested Scott after 49-year-old James Kenneth Miller was found shot to death near North Midway Avenue and North Columbia Boulevard in February 2007.

Detectives said they found evidence of drug trafficking and dog-fighting after serving a warrant at the suspect�s home. Investigators also seized six pit bulls.

Scott will appear in court next for a settlement conference on June 18 at 3:00 p.m., and his trial has been reset for October 6, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. with Judge Labar.

Portland police arrested Scott after 49-year-old James Kenneth Miller was found shot to death near North Midway Avenue and North Columbia Boulevard in early February.

Detectives said they found evidence of drug trafficking and dog-fighting after serving a warrant at the suspect�s home. Investigators also seized six pit bulls.

Scott will appear in court next for an omnibus hearing on September 21, and his trial is set for December 3, 2007.
