Puppy dead, dragged behind motorcycle
Homer, LA (US)

Incident Date: Saturday, Dec 23, 2006
County: Claiborne

Disposition: Not Charged

Person of Interest: Scott Hale

Two days before Christmas, a seven month-old Shih-Tzu puppy was dragged behind a motorcycle and dumped on the side of the road. According to the puppy's owners, "Meathead" had been missing for several hours. They scoured the neighborhood looking for their missing dog, last seen wearing a harness.

Later, when they were loading their car, they witnessed a man driving in front of their house on a motorcycle, dragging their missing dog behind it. The dog's owner immediately jumped into his car and followed the man. The suspect, reportedly a neighbor, eventually stopped and threw the dog into the woods at the side of the road.

When questioned by Meathead's owner, the man allegedly claimed that he had found the dog in his yard already dead, and thought it was a stray. It has yet to be determined whether the dog actually died as the result of being dragged behind the motorcycle. The matter is currently being investigated by the District Attorney's office.
