Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
A local veterinarian is concerned for the safety of domestic cats following the senseless shooting of a Chatswood resident's pet.
An elderly cat named Guy was taken to the East Chatswood Cat Clinic recently when its owners noticed it was having trouble breathing.
An X-ray revealed it had an air rifle pellet lodged in its chest, and vet Kim Kendall reported the matter to police.
Dr Kendall said Guy has since made it back home but is "really not in good shape".
"He's an old cat with other health problems, so the prognosis isn't good. Still, he is back home with his family which is good for the cat and owners although they are reportedly very distressed about the whole situation."
Dr Kendall said she is concerned with what she sees as the overt rise of cruelty to cats in the area, especially amid news of cat cruelty elsewhere in the country.
There were several reports of cats being skinned and killed and then dumped in Darwin last month. References
