Dog found with embedded collar, gaping neck wound Swan Lake, NY (US)Incident Date: Monday, Jan 29, 2007 County: Sullivan
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: » Bobby McLeod » Elena McLeod
Late January, a severely malnourished German shepherd with a wide, gaping wound on its neck was seized from a home in Swan Lake.
Now the folks who were responsible for its care face charges.
The dog was seized on Jan. 29, and immediately taken to surgery. It took 28 stitches to close the wound. Apparently, the dog's collar had not been changed since it was a puppy.
The 4-year-old dog had also been left without food and water, sheriff's deputies say.
Bobby McLeod, 35, and Elena McLeod, 34, were charged Feb 5 with misdemeanors, and arraigned and taken to Sullivan County Jail on $1,000 bail. They were looking after the dog for a relative, deputies say. References« NY State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Sullivan County, NY
