A Macon man has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty after failing to obtain medical care for a severely injured dog, according to a Macon police report.
Gary B. Cole, 34, of Houston Avenue, is being held on a $2,500 bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Cole told police he was keeping the dog for a friend in jail and didn't know how the dog was injured, according to the report.
Macon police detective Rick Hogan said Peebles, a pit bull-shepherd mix, had swollen genitals and was bleeding from the hind end when a veterinarian examined her Feb 8.
If Cole's DNA is found during the investigation, he could be charged with bestiality, Hogan said. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
