County: Suffolk CityDisposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Lee Anthony Chambliss
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
Suffolk police have charged a city man with nearly four dozen offenses resulting from the neglect of dogs at his Fulchur Street home.
According to a press release from the Suffolk Police Department, Lee A. Chambliss, 40, has been charged with 16 counts of failing to adequately care for the animals, 14 counts of no rabies vaccinations and 14 counts of failing to obtain city dog licenses.
The release said police were called to the residence to investigate a pit bull that had broken from its tether and was attacking other dogs, also pit bulls.
Arriving officers reported one dead dog on the property. A second animal was injured in the altercation and taken to a local veterinarian by the owner, where it had to be destroyed due to its wounds.
The attacking dog was euthanized, according to police.
Police said Tuesday that the remaining dogs were not removed from the property, and Chambliss still has two more in his possession, seven total, than the city ordinance allows.
Chambliss was arrested Jan 29 and released on his signature.
