Authorities believe a treadmill and other instruments of torture were used on pit bull dogs. Jerry Jordan of Chunchula was arrested and charged with dog fighting.
Mobile County Animal Control Enforcement Officers say twelve pit bulls were picked up, but only seven are still alive.
They say the others died or were put to sleep because of their injuries.
Mobile County Animal Control Enforcement Officer Carmelo Miranda says the dogs "have lacerations to the neck, the front, hind legs, body injuries, scars, their faces are scarred up."
Animal shelter officials say atreadmill was confiscated from the property in the case.
They also say other equipment was confiscated, like a heavy chain.
Enforcement officers say the dogs are actually nice to people, but would attack other animals.
Miranda says, "I'm waiting for the authorization from the judge, signed documents, saying that we can get permission to go ahead and euthanize the dogs. Once these dogs are put in conditions like these, you can't adopt these."
Enforcement officers say they're always on the lookout to stop dogfights, and that if anyone sees anything suspicious, they should call local police or sheriff's deputies.
