A 17-year-old Renton teenager who reportedly laughed about the Colorado school shootings and made vague threats about copying them was charged in the death of a kitten savagely hacked with an ax.

Jessey Boyd was charged with two counts of first-degree animal cruelty and one count of second-degree malicious mischief. If convicted as a juvenile, Boyd faces a maximum 30 days in detention, 12 months under community supervision and 150 hours of community service. He could also be ordered to undergo counseling.

Boyd's mother said he had laughed while watching television coverage of the school shootings in Littleton, Colo. She said he told her that he and some friends had made a pact that, when they were older, they would go to a school, put all the kids in one room and shoot them, court documents said.
