CONVICTED: Was justice served?
more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.
Case #10604 Rating: 2.0 out of 5
Horse neglected Tabor City, NC (US)Incident Date: Monday, Jul 31, 2006 County: Columbus
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Andrea B. Dudney
It's a first of its kind sentence in Columbus County. A woman has been punished for abusing a horse.
Over the summer, WECT reported a story about Lacey, a horse suffering from malnutrition and partial blindness.
Now, Andrea Dudney, Lacey's former owner, is on probation for the next two years. Until then, she won't be able to own another horse. Dudney has also been ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution to the Rocky Point Animal Hospital.
This is the first time anyone has been prosecuted in Columbus County for horse abuse.
For now Lacey is in the care of animal cruelty investigator Lisa Hartman. References« NC State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Columbus County, NC
