Abby, a black cat and beloved pet belonging to Jerry Drews, was shot by a pellet gun and killed.  When Drews went door to door to try to find information on the shooter, a neighbor confessed.

"I said to him, 'Our cat was shot yesterday. What do you know of it?' He said, 'What color is it?' I said black. He said 'Yeah, I shot it. It (defecates) on my lawn,' " Drews said.

The family called police. A Snohomish County sheriff's deputy came over Saturday and confronted the alleged shooter, who promptly confessed to the deed, Drews said. The sheriff's office investigated and forwarded the case to the prosecutor's office for possible charges.
