William Sparks, 39, first block of Meadow Street, is slated to go to trial April 19.

Sparks was arrested in December and charged with three counts of second-degree animal cruelty after two of his dogs were found dead in the back yard. They had frozen to death. A third dog was still alive but reportedly malnourished.

Animal control officers said none of the dogs had been fed recently.

Sparks trial date was set during his arraignment in Henderson District Court. Also during this court appearance, Sparks entered a not guilty plea to the charges.
