Gaston County Animal Control officers charged a 34-year-old man with animal cruelty on Dec 25 after he allegedly threw a dog from a deck, injuring the dog's eyes, head and nose, according to arrest warrants.

Police allege they had warned Bryan Michael Nelson, of the 1200 block of Perkins Street, to provide shelter for the animal before charging him with five animd-related offenses, according to a warrant affdavit.

Officers allege that Nelson picked the boxer dog up and threw it to the ground from his back deck, which is approximately - 10 feet above the ground, according to a warrant affidavit. The dog had several lacerations to its head and was bleeding from the eyes and nose.


Case Updates

Bryan Michael Nelson was arraigned in Gaston County Court on April 5. He is charged with animal cruelty stemming from an incident on Christmas Day, 2006, when he allegedly threw a dog from his deck, causing severe injuries.

Gaston County Animal Control officers allege that Nelson picked up the boxer and threw it to the ground from his back deck, which is approximately 10 feet above the ground, according to a warrant affidavit. The dog had several lacerations to its head and was bleeding from the eyes and nose.

Nelson will appear in court next on May 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
