A local man is facing charges after allegedly dragging a pit bull down a street.
At about 12:15 p.m. on Dec 30, witnesses called police and reported that a man driving a Cadillac Seville at Stafford and Broadacres streets had a pit bull tied to the car and was dragging it down the street, police said.
Carl Green King Jr., 32, of Detroit, told police he was walking the dog, which belonged to a friend. Officers said the pit bull was bleeding heavily from its legs and paws and suffered a deep flesh wound, according to the Macomb Daily.
"What he did is absolutely unjustified and criminal," Detective Capt. Richard Maierle told the Macomb Daily. "Somebody ought to tie him to a leash and drag him down the street."
King, who is charged with maliciously and without just cause torturing a dog, which is a four-year felony, pleaded not guilty.
King is being held at the Macomb County Jail on a $20,000 cash or surety bond.
The dog was treated at a nearby vet and has been returned to the owner.
