The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting two dogs at close range in Delta, Colorado in November.

According to the Delta Animal Resource Center, a 16-pound, female terrier mix and a 9-pound terrier mix were found wandering near Big 'O Tires on Gunnison River Drive the morning of November 29, both with close-range gunshot wounds to their necks. Based on the injuries, investigators believe the shootings took place November 24 or 25. While both adult dogs were weak and covered in icicles, both survived because the bullet traveled through their necks and came out near their throats, avoiding vital organs. Both dogs suffered nerve damage.
