On Dec 16, five teen boys were trying to drown a dog named Ariel in a wading pool in Benton Heights.

"They held the dog's head underneath the water and the dog was fighting them," said Sue Burkhard from Animal Aid of Southwestern Michigan. "The head would pop back up and they would hold it back down again, trying to drown it."

A neighbor chased the teens away, but they put a chain around the dog's neck and dragged it down the street. Another teen saw what was happening, took the dog, and called police.
