Hoarding 105 cats, 22 dogs
Miami, FL (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Apr 15, 2002
County: Miami-Dade

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Phyllis Ingram

A woman who says she just couldn't stop giving stray animals animals a home ended up with 105 cats and 22 dogs, according to police.

Animal control is removing the animals from the house at 198 Street and NE 10 Court. Police say that the owner, Phyllis Ingram, also removed some of the animals from the home. Some of them are being taken by shelters. Neighbors say she is a Miami-Dade county schoolteacher.

Police have cited the Ingram for cruelty to animals, not having a license to breed animals, and for having an unlicensed kennel, and for keeping a pit bull. Pit bulls are illegal in Miami-Dade County.

The house has been declared unlivable by the Health Department.
