A Hammond man was placed on probation for two years and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty to confinement and animal cruelty.
Antonio Martinez, 27, of Hammond admitted before Lake Superior Court Judge Thomas Stefaniak Jr., that he held a Merrillville man while one of his co-defendants repeatedly stabbed the victim in the back on July 19 in the 7300 block of Marshall Street in Merrillville.
The victim was stabbed eight times.
Martinez also admitted he kicked the man's dog, which was euthanized.
The plea agreement also requires Martinez to undergo alcohol treatment during his probation. References « More cases in Lake County, IN
