Pit bull neglect, two found dead Fayetteville, NC (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Nov 29, 2006 County: Cumberland
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Kimani Hasan
Police officers responding Nov 29 to a report of an aggressive dog on Needham Drive found two others that were dead in the owner's yard.
Kimani Hasan, who lives on the 4700 block of Needham Drive, was cited by police for animal cruelty, said Jamie Smith, a spokeswoman for the Police Department.
A resident called police about a gray pit bull running loose in the area, Smith said.
The officers managed to get the dog back to its residence - where Hasan lived, Smith said.
Hasan was talking to police when one of the officers saw two dead dogs in the backyard. Both were pit bulls; one was an adult, the other was a puppy, Smith said.
The adult dog appeared to have been starved, Smith said, and the puppy was on a large chain and had wounds consistent with an attack.
Cumberland County Animal Control was called and has cited Hasan for allowing a dog to run at large, failure to have the dog vaccinated for rabies and not having a county dog license, said Sue Nicholson, director of Animal Control.
