Pinellas County sheriff's deputies arrested a 21-year-old man on two counts of animal cruelty on Aug 1 after finding two dead dogs in his Palm Harbor apartment.

Jason J. Lovell was arrested after deputies found a chihuahua mix and a poodle mix dead in his apartment at 2480 Cypress Pond Road. The chihuahua was found in a cage and the poodle in a bedroom, deputies said.

Deputies said they arrived at the apartment and were told Lovell hadn't paid his rent and that a foul smell was coming from inside the residence.
