4 wolf hybrids, covered in fleas and malnourished. One didn't make it. Largo police say Jimmy Walton kept the dogs in deplorable conditions in a pin in the backyard of his home. They also say he is a member of Federal Wolf Dog Rescue a local group based in Largo. Dawn Bednar is the president and founder of the organization established in 2000.

Beth Lockwood, Executive Director SPCA Tampa: "The dead dog was suffering from malnourishment first of all and severe parasitism and fleas which causes severe anemia also a case of hook worms which also caused anemia."

44-year-old Walton is charged with two counts of animal cruelty, felonies, to a group of animals that SPCA says already has a lot stacked against them.

Dawn Bednar, Federal Wolf Dog Rescue, says this is going to take some time to get over. She trusted Walton, not only as a friend of 30 years, but also a foster parent because he's been watching dogs from her organization for 8-9 months and owns a couple of his own.

"My heart is broken. This is not the way we do business. I know forgiveness is something you have to find, but it's going to be a long road for me. Right now at this moment, I hope he burns in hell."

Jimmie Walton is in Pinellas County Jail on 40-thousand dollars bond.
