Cows shot Lake Worth, FL (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 County: Palm Beach
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Christopher Hands
A cattle rancher says teens will pay 7-thousand dollars in restitution for killing off his cows during a cruel target practice. Detectives say the teen who took it too far got caught after telling shotgun stories to his friends.
But investigators say the story was true.
They tracked down the remains of 4 cows and one calf, exactly where the teen boasted he'd opened fire on them with a rifle.
In June, 4 teens went onto the cattle field in western Martin county to shoot target practice with a rifle at beer cans.
But now, only 16 year-old Christopher Hands faces 7 felony charges, including animal cruelty for climbing over a fence that day to get close and shoot 4 mother cows dead.
3 others teens that were with the 16 year-old Hands are charged with felony armed trespassing. References- 12 News Now - Aug 1, 2006
