A Suffolk man was arrested Aug 15 on a series of animal neglect charges for keeping three dead pit bulldog puppies in his yard in north Suffolk and not providing adequate shelter and water for five other adult pit bulls.
Raphael Brown of Magnolia Drive was charged with eight counts of animal neglect, three counts of keeping dogs without city licenses and three counts of keeping dogs without rabies vaccinations, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman with the Suffolk Police Department.
The week before, neighbors called the animal control office, complaining about foul odor coming from Brown's house. Officers found three dead pit bulldog puppies, which appeared to have been there for some time, George said. They also found three adult pit bulls without adequate shelter and two pit bulls without water. Rafael Brown will appear in court next on April 26, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in Suffolk General District Court.
