Dog intentionally run over Whitsett, NC (US)Incident Date: Sunday, Mar 5, 2006 County: Guilford
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Thomas Franklin Blythe
On March 5, 2006 at approximately 7PM, Mr. Blythe allegedly backed up his pick-up truck at a high rate of speed in his driveway, intentionally hitting a six year Neopolitan Mastiff named Hooch that had apparently gotten out of his pen. Blythe confronted Hooch's owners, confirming that he had in fact run over the dog, saying he "had been sitting in his truck for twenty damn minutes." Hooche's owners claim that he is not an aggressive dog.
Hooch's owners called 911 to get help with picking the dog up to transport him to the hospital. Three officers from the sheriff's department arrived and assisted. Hooch sustained very bad injuries, but reportedly never attempt to harm, growl or bite the officers.
Hooch died on March 8, 2006 from internal and external injuries. Blythe was charged with Felony Animal Cruelty 14-360 (B); Offense Code 6206 and was indicted by a grand jury. References« NC State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Guilford County, NC
